If you’d like to take your own picture to potentially be featured on the blog, then get your Soul Survivor Bible in One Year, and take a picture of yourself – and your Bible – at some interesting or colourful location. Then email it to us at editor@soulsurvivor.com.

The pictures will need to be a pretty good resolution (we use 640px by 360 px so at least as big as that), landscape photos work best and if you include the day of the reading in the picture then make sure you send it to us a good few days before that reading, so we have time to include it in that day’s post! We’ll credit all photographers!

    Thank you

    I love Mike!!!

I’ve got questions about the Trinity – when I think of each of them I see them in a certain way, but I’m sure that my view is so limited…

I currently see the Father as Almighty God – filling the universe, surrounded by thunder and lightning, completely just and completely kind. Comforting because He’s complete love, all-knowing, all-seeing, in control and ultimately He won’t let anyone mess with His kids.

I see Jesus as God and the ultimate human being – total love which is completely merciful, kind, gracious and also His scars and His demeanour show how fiercely strong His love is for us.

I sense the Holy Spirit like a “fuzzy” feeling a little bit like adreneline. When He spreads through my body I’m aware that He’s gently changing me, washing away the sin and “me” stuff and pouring Himself into me, making me come alive and real.

How do you see / experience the Trinity? I’d love to hear – I’m sure I only currently see a little part. X

      Hello, um, Me.
I don’t think I can top your answer there! There’s all sorts of answers I can list from my head-knowledge, but when it comes to what I’ve really begun to get a grasp of…
The Father…He knows me and knows where my life is going to go. He likes to be awkward by giving me very few clues about what He wants me to do next, but I suppose He knows best. I have to trust Him, even though I can’t usually tell what He’s up to – which, being fond of planning and working things out, I find tricky to put into practise. Still – He’s good.
And He forgives me, that’s very important.

Jesus…I know He’s kind and merciful, but I also find a lot of the things he says in the Bible scary and confusing and I haven’t focussed on understanding them yet. I also know He’s powerful, but that’s only head-knowledge at the moment too. The only thing I’ve really begun to get a deeper grip on is the passion of His love, that He suffered so much for us – and how He was still loving enough to forgive while He was dying. Because He forgave His killers when He was crucified, I know that I can forgive too.

The Holy Spirit…I realised after reading an article in Soul Survivor magazine yesterday just how vague my practical understanding of Him truly is. I’m more or less speaking from the article here, but if we look at the way we vaguely think of Him, it seems as more of a force or a power than a Person. For some bizarre reason the concept of “praying to the Holy Spirit” feels slightly heretical for a second or two before I come to my senses. Still, although I can’t really recognise it, I’m sure He’s working in me.

Good question, really got me thinking XD
      God bless

That’s really good. I want to ask the “What’s your experience of God / how do you see Him?” question to different people, especially people who are different to me and foreigners – I think that could help broaden my understanding of God. :-)

  3. Topsy says :

    Psalm 68:5-6
    [5] A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. [6] God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing;

Lord of the broken, Jesus really can repair all hurts!

  4. Elizabeth says :

So now I understand the holy spirit. Have heard the people in church talk about the Trinity and was never any wiser.

What will god ask of me?

    • Dazza says :

Don’t really have an answer for this. Doubt anybody does. I mean, there’s stuff that applies to everyone (seek to love God and the world, and so on) and we’ve got to be willing to give up anything or do anything if God asks us to.

But when it comes to specifics…only God knows. Keep on praying. Said a prayer for you too. He answers in His own time.
      God bless
